Weekend Ramblings

And so ends another nice weekend for our household....one with the perfect balance of busy, yet relaxing.

Saturday morning kicked off with gymnastics. Arden's regular teacher was back, so everything was right with the world. The woman amazes me, somehow spending hour after hour every Saturday with 4 and 5 year olds, teaching them the basics of gymnastics. After 2 weeks of substitutes thanks to gymnastic meets for the older kids, it's pretty apparent that Ally is the child whisperer.

We spent the rest of Saturday with our friends, Juli and Alisha, and their two kids. Arden and their daughter, B, spent nearly 5 hours playing with each other. The girls get along swimmingly, and so do the moms. I closed out the evening with a trip to the market with the list Dora made the previous night. Truly a wild Saturday night around these parts! But let's be honest, aren't they all?

Today included a trip to Target, where Arden and I sought out some organizational things for the house. The kitchen drawers left something to be desired, as did the kid's art supplies. We managed to walk out of Target for under $60 (including new Spiderman toothbrushes for the child), so we're going to call that a successful trip. What is it about that store that makes me want to just spend money?

We spent a fair amount of time today watching Rosie O'Donnell's latest documentary about families. It is a wonderful, special documentary about all kinds of families, much of it told through interviews with children. There has been a lot of talk about families in our household lately, so this being on On Demand is certainly timely. Might I be so bold as to recommend it to anyone and everyone, kids or no kids?
